Wild Edibles Hunt: Early Season
We were convinced this was miners lettuce, but upon further investigation, we discovered that it wasn't. However, we are still investigating to see if we will consider it food.
Young Cattail sprouts. The base of the stalk is very tender and makes a nice addition to ANY salad.
We weren't sure if this was edible or not. So we harvested the bad boy, brought it home and Carlie took a nibble. She felt a little loopy for the next four to five hours so we decided to throw it out... no, she didn't really try it. For now it remains unidentified but in case you can't tell, it is a type of wooded mushroom.

First Annual Alaskan All Mountain Camping Lalapalooza
This turned out to be the best camping spot. We were really scared at first because we couldn't find a place that seemed to be bear free. It is also difficult to find a flat location, but Chris spotted this little gem! The ground was spongy, and he has the coolest tent. It only takes like 3 min. to set up, which is much appreciated. Afterwords I said how much fun I had, and he said he would just have to work hard to make sure I was always very warm and comfortable because that way I will continue to want to camp with him. Smart man.
Mr. Handsome man himself. We thought this was a place called smugglers cove, but later found it that we were wrong. Oh well, it was awesome.
Did I say Mr. Handsome? I meant, our "special" friend.
AND, his "special" wife. The camera was hanging from a tree in this picture, lucky the wind blew it in our direction at the right time!
Arrival in Alaska
The West Mark Inn, or as we call it, Home.
Kind of like Park City or Jackson Hole.
Skagway is on the Lynn Canal in Southeastern AK. The town is 4 blocks by 12 in the direction that Chris is looking now.

We got here thursday April 30th after flying from Honolulu to Salt Lake then on to Seattle and
to Juneau. In Juneau we got on a small 10 seater plane and took a 100 mile ride through the
glacier fields to Skagway. We recognized it from our research on google earth. We have
photos of the plane ride on Carlies camera that we'll try to post when we find her cord. These
are a few other pictures we took of the town.
